Daytime television – motherhood combined with a nocturnal working lifestyle means I have much more time on my hands to appreciate it. I have a new found passion for it! I love the variety of presenters and it’s astonishing how many are potential panellists on Loose Women, these days. There’s loads!
New favourite programmes are added to my ever-growing list on a regular basis, however this week my telly must-sees have been…
Lorraine ~ I think Lorraine Kelly is like a breath of fresh air and her skills as an interviewer are ones I watch keenly as my blogging career takes me further into that territory. What I particularly enjoyed this week, other than the appearance of the superb Penny Smith, of course, was Naughty Boy who brought a selection of gifts for the Queen of breakfast television!
This Morning ~ What else could have possibly clinched the National Television Award for Daytime? I expect This Morning to carry on winning this accolade as long as Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are at the helm (and Ruth Langsford with Eamonn Holmes on a Friday of course!). Phil and Holly mostly look as though they are having great fun on the show and they’re well matched as a presenting duo, I love the Speakmans, too who talk so much sense as Psychotherapists go and Eamonn and Ruth are also favourites of mine. Eamonn and Ruth’s presenting style is often amusing due to the fact they’re married – therefore this morning’s discussion about scheduling sex was hilarious viewing!
Loose Women ~ I’ve dipped in and out of this one over the years, but with Ruth Langsford regularly heading up the panel, I’ve become quite a fan. The girls’ interview with Dancing On Ice contestant, Jake Quickenden has been one of the highlights this week. I also welcomed back Janet Street Porter with open arms, nobody does sarcasm and straight talking quite like Janet. I’m excited to be in the audience at the end of the month. That’s going to be one of my 2018 high points… and then some!!
Bargain Hunt ~ I get the impression as I scroll through Twitter for fellow BBC One’s Bargain Hunt viewers, that Anita Manning as a presenter on the show is like marmite for some people. I personally love Anita and don’t like marmite. Have you ever watched her as an auctioneer? She’s the one you want in the auction room if you’re ever a contestant on the show. I enjoy a mooch around an antiques shop or fair myself so this programme ticks the box for me. I’d like a celebrity version, though..
Eggheads ~ I am glued to many quizzes, Eggheads has taken my attention this week but I watch as many as I can fit in and have great fun playing along at home. Jeremy Vine is the best presenter for this show and although I was sad to see the back of Daphne from the Eggheads panel, Lisa Thiel has replaced her in my esteem. I’ve also got a soft spot for Barry Simmons, ssshh!
